The outcome will be that your 3G connectivity won't work in the cities where your telecom service provider doesn't have 3G license.
Not a good step for sure by the government and it must annoy both the telecom companies and consumers.

English Newspapers

Further Updates (4th December 2011) : And i really disliked the way Vir Sanghvi (Hindustan Times) justified non-vegetarianism. It must be very convenient when you are a food writer and invited to all the big and small eateries other than having yearly restaurant guides but otherwise it doesn't feel good that a journalist (if he can be called so in this case) isn't sensitive enough to remain neutral atleast. It's just common sense that eating non-vegetarian food just for your taste buds feels too superficial even though most of the readers here might also be enjoying that but it's not expected to justify it from a senior journalist.
So, i don't agree with HT that they are better than Times of India and non-commercial in Nature.

Counterview (20th October 2011) : But i have always enjoyed reading Times of India as it's a compelte package and Indian Express is getting better but i don't like political stuff much. And i surely disliked certain articles in Mail Today.

Indian Express - Journalism of Courage
Website : www.indianexpress.com
As the tagline suggests, it's surely about ethical Journalism instead of concentration on money making activities and politically correct news.

Mail Today - News for the New Indian
Website : mailtoday.in
As the name suggests, it surely offers News for the New Indian. It's a compact newspaper which fulfills the need of youth and all those who are young at heart.
Update : I am not impressed with this paper completely as they interviewed few kiddish girls and posted their views as if they have authority over relations etc. while these are completely ill-mannered girls with little sense of their own prejudice. They behaved very rudely when i sent them a light email expressing my view. One should start with a dialogue or ignore if they don't like something instead of making mockery and being rude.
Feminism under work? :-)

Times of India
They offer a complete package and playing the Number 1 game like their associate Shahrukh Khan but it all feels like a good business strategy with politically correct news and events.
Their 'Speaking Tree' column is good enough to buy this paper!

Hindustan Times
The newspaper or their fans claims to be different than Times of India but that's not the true picture. On one hand, they try to catch up with Times of India to become number 1 in sales and On the other hand, they try to do serious Journalism. A confused state of existence!

There are many more newspapers but this is it for now!

Revolution 2020 by Chetan Bhagat

The title of the book 'Revolution 2020' and Chetan Bhagat's positive coments about Anna Hazare movement makes one interested in reading the book but it's a complete disappointment as the book is more about melodramatic soap opera kinda stuff instead of offering a vision for India 2020.

If you are interested in triangular love story in which the lead character Gopal sacrifices his love at the end then this book is for you and you are left with the sympathetic feeling for Gopal.

How come it has anything to do with Revolution 2020 when the whole book revolves around an unfulfilled love story? Only few pages are dedicated to Revolution 2020 and even those pages talk about revolution to be brought by the youth (especially of Varanasi) against the corrupt system. I don't see any vision or clear roadmap of the revolution 2020, everyone knows that some kind of revolution is needed and it will obviously be brought by young people and there is absolutely no vision in it which makes reading the book an unnecessary exercise if the writer can't offer any new revolutionary thought which can make your eyes twinkle.

So, do read the book if you have time to waste as you are only left with an emotional baggage of Gopal who lost his love at the end and there are many old bollywood movies with triangular love stories like this. So, the title should have been 'Nostalgia 1990' instead of 'Revolution 2020'.

Few other reviews which i should have read before buying this book and wasting my one whole day :

Although it's a commercial movie but it's main focus is on divinity through love, music....through simple joys of life!

First of all, i don't agree with the reviews by mainstream newspapers like Times of India Rockstar Review, which says that the second half stagnates and i complete disagree after watching the movie. Few other media companies like India Today etc. also points out few areas of the movie which are apparently illogical. It's their job and they are surely free to do so but they are dissecting a flower to find it's beauty which is an impossibility. Beauty can only be experienced and it can't be logically proved.

They miss the essence of the movie which is all about a blessed artist (i like the short appearance of Shammi Kapoor who looks at Jordon and says that he is a blessed soul) and his main objective is to connect with divine through his passionate love and his music. He doesn't care about his popularity, his negative image in media and public because his main focus is to experience a love beyond boundaries and that's possible when you put everything in stake for your love and your work (music in this case)! This point is proved throughout the movie till the end where a slide with rumi's poem about ultimate freedom is shown.

So, it's a movie worth watching if you are not looking for just intellectual simulation or time-pass entertainment but love beyond boundaries!

I end this note with one of my favorite song of the movie which again reaffirms the truth that we are just expressions of god and don't have any separate existence which is just a perception of human mind. And only surrender to the source can solve all of our problems.

I also want to point out one corrupt practice which i come across. I have noticed that Delhi Tourism is promoting one commercial website for the last few years. These government organizations are not even interested in providing information to DelhiEvents.com because that won't benefit them.

Why do government organizations promote a commercial venture? The reason is very simple : Personal gain or gain for the political party from corporates for next election! That should be probed for sure!

By the way, i informed the Tourism department that the company they promote not only has past record of stealing other people's work but indulge in unethical practices too but i didn't get any response as public is never really cared for.

It seems that the government is mainly concerned with their own power and maintaining that requires corporate support and they are least concerned with public welfare.

That's the reason that around 74% villages still don't have electricity (not sure about the exact figure) and Anna Hazare team gets attacked for selfless service to the nation while corporates are given complete freedom to loot people.

If I was the Prime Minister of India

Update : It doesn't appeal to me anymore! And i think only politicians can do this work. I'm fine with my simple non-political life! :-)

If I was the Prime Minister of India...
I would have told Digvijay Singh, Renuka Chowdary, Manish Tewari & other such congress members that they are anti-nation when then say disgusting things about Anna Hazare and his team members.

If I was the Prime Minister of India...
I would have told Rahul Gandhi that his visits to villages etc. is all about expansion of his Congress Party and creating a politically correct image for himself. It's not completely wrong but it's not enough to be a leader at all.
If he was a true leader, he would have joined Anna Hazare and spoken for him instead of against him or atleast he would have welcomed Anna's team members when they came to meet him even if it required him to cancel his other meetings as nothing is more important than a team which is working for the nation.

If I was the Prime Minister of India...
I would have quickly acted on Anna Hazare's demands instead of letting my party members trying to sabotage his movement.

If I was the Prime Minister of India...
I would be giving numerous Interviews to TV, newspapers etc. and assuring people that the government is for the welfare of people and anything against the public won't be tolerated at all. And i'll prove it by my actions!

I am not the Prime Minister of India...
But i'll surely become one if it's needed for the welfare of the nation.
Anna Hazare
Here is the comment i posted at facebook wall in response to Arundhati Roy's article at 'The Hindu' Newspaper : www.thehindu.com/opinion/lead/article2379704.ece?homepage=true

She is too crazy! She may appeal to the mathematical mind but most important thing is that Anna's intention is good & he is trying to go to the root of the problem which is corruption and he himself says that the passing of the lokpal bill is just a beginning of the battle!

She says, 'Nothing about the farmer's suicides in his neighbourhood, or about Operation Green Hunt further away. Nothing about Singur, Nandigram, Lalgarh, nothing about Posco, about farmer's agitations or the blight of SEZs.'

These are just the offshoots of the corruption and he is surely working on the complete solution instead of just pruning the branches which happens when you focus on certain issues only.
Sheila Dixit government offered crores to cricketers who won world cup but nothing to Arunima Sinha who lost her leg after she was pushed out of the train.
These Cricketers already earn huge money & they should be encouraged to donate a part of their huge wealth for social welfare.
So, is it just a political move to impress the cricket obsessed masses?
Hmm!
After watching this interview, i can say that many old people have serious issues with admitting that 'they don't know' and 'they too can also commit mistakes' and instead of doing that, they just try to belittle others like Ram Jehtmalani is doing in this interview. He is just an advocate ( senior or whatever ) and not a god that he is talking as if Karan Thapar is nobody. If he hasn't learned to respect other's opinion and honest enquirers, his being a senior advocate has no value at all.
Anyway, it's an old story though but the rigidity of the old people still continues..... (smiles)

Commonwealth Games 2010 is the success for the Political Party and failure of the Government.

Why?

I answer this below :

Media was continuously finding faults in the Games Organizing Committee and there are supporters of the games who say that it was just an exaggerated stuff. Finally, the games organizers proved their point by delivering the games successfully.

So, is it all well if it ends well?

Not at all!

First of all, huge money is being spent on this show-off event which is surely a waste of resources and government is just public servant and not the Kings and Queens to take decision regarding public's money on their own.

They should have asked the public if they want the government to go ahead with the games as the money belongs to the public only.

The success of a country must not be about the success of competitive games, the true success is all about the welfare of it's people. Competitive Games must be for fun and entertainment only and it must not be associated with the country's pride at all. Competition is an ugly aspect of life as it's all about getting ahead of others mostly. So, how come competitive games are the pride of the nation if it only glorifies one political party, few sportsmen and the spirit of competitiveness?

And any truly responsible present ( Dr. Manmohan Singh ) and potential ( Rahul Gandhi ) Prime Minister must stand against wastage of public's money.

Rahul Gandhi says that he is concerned about the common man but if it's really so then he should have opposed the games like Mani Shankar Aiyar did.

But it seems that they are more interested in the expansion and glorification of their Party than the welfare of the public.

So, the games proves the failure of the government if we consider the education standards in government schools, corruption, healthcare facilities, poverty, lack of development in other Indian states and various such issues!

There are guys who take photographs of transient nature of our human reality but forget that the money in their pocket is also transient. :-)

But anyway, let's come to the main issue 'Can you manufacture leaders in the factory?' I don't think so! Not at all! There is this lead India guy R K Mishra who was angry with Barkha Dutt because of her coverage of 26/11. If one goes ahead and takes the charge of certain situation then controversy is bound to happen. Does it mean that one should be meek and avoid taking charge just because things can go wrong? That would really be a dumb idea!
So, factory leaders can't be of much use. We need real leaders who may be imperfect in many ways but at the end of the day, they can lead the people into some action.
But the effort of creating leader should be respected but unfortunately it can't go very far.

So, can leaders be created in a factory? Isn't it an impossible task like killing a mosquito with a machine gun?
Just being a little funny here! So, laugh my dear readers as laughing happens when you realize the transient nature of things.... in a real way! :-)

New Year Eve Celebration with Shekhar Sen’s One Act Play ‘Kabir’

New Year’s Eve offered many options to celebrate the arrival of Year 2008 and most of the activities comes in the category of ‘Mindless Entertainment’. But one event stands out which took place at Kamani Auditorium on 31st December, 2007. It was a One Act Play ‘Kabir’ by Shekhar Sen, a talented actor / singer who has performed his solo acts including play on Vivekananda and Tulsidas other than Kabir numerous times in India and abroad.
Kabir was the illegitimate son of a Brahmin widow who had set him afloat on the Ganges to avoid being thrashed by society but a childless Muslim weaver saved his life and took care of him.
Kabir was treated as inferior by both Mulla and Pandit. But he never bothered about them and made mockery of them by saying to Mulla, “Is your God Deaf that you shout his name from the minar of masjid?” and to Pandit, “If God is everywhere, why do you indulge in Idol Worship?” He kept provoking all those who didn’t believe in loving fellow human beings and preferred to engaged in mindless rituals.
Shekhar Sen sang many songs of Kabir during the play and the impact of his mesmerizing voice and Kabir’s timeless devotional songs can’t be explained in words. A play like this must be watched or listened as the Audio CDs are also available.
Here is one popular kabir song :
Mo Ko Kaha Dhoonde Re Bande, Mein Toh Tere Paas Mein!
Na Mein Deval Na Mein Masjid, Na Kaba Kailash Mein!!
Na Toh Kono Kriya Karam Mein, Naahi Jog Birag Mein!
Khoji Hoye Toh Turat Miliho, Pal Bhar Ki Talash Mein!!
English Translation ( a little different ) :
Are You Looking For Me?
Are you looking for me? I am in the next seat.
My shoulder is against yours.
You will not find me in the stupas, not in Indian shrine rooms,
nor in synogogues, nor in cathedrals:
not in masses, nor kirtans, not in legs winding
around your own neck, nor in eating nothing but
vegetables.
When you really look for me, you will see me
instantly–
you will find me in the tiniest house of time.
Kabir says: Student, tell me, what is God?
He is the breath inside the breath.

The play depicts many funny and touching instances of Kabir’s life which are very relevant in today’s world but i would mention one stage of his life which is when he got married. After his arranged marriage, he came back to his village and found that his hut was burned down by those who were against him. But Kabir wasn’t much affected by this and told his wife to sit outside and cook some food. But his wife started crying saying why his father married her to such a person. After much insistence by Kabir, she told him that she loves someone else in his village. And Kabir immediately offered her to take her to her lover. For a while, she was shocked and surprised to hear this. But then they started their journey towards her village and in the midway, she started crying again and Kabir asked her what’s the problem now. She told him that she wants to live with him only as he is a nice man and her father must know what’s good for her.
I mentioned this instance because we read in newspapers stories mentioning that a lover threw acid on his girlfriend or shot her dead.
In the name of love, we believe in possessing the other person and don’t realize that love is all about giving.
Kabir was ready to send his wife to her lover so that she can be happy in life. Her happiness was more important for him than clinging to her and thinking of his own prestige and comfort.
We surely need more Kabirs in the world to set an example of love and peace!

Source Event : THEATRE : Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra presents “Kabir” One Act Play by Shekhar Sen at Kamani Auditorium - 31st December, 2007

Maddening city life

Life in a city like Delhi can be maddening because of traffic, pollution, road rages and rate races… All this leads to accumulation of much stress which leads to anger, depression and other such problems. It can severely effect our physical / mental health, destroys relationships which nobody really wants.
So, what is the solution of all these problems? And how can we remain peaceful in our day to day life without depending on holidays?
There is one wonderful meditation technique called ‘Dynamic Meditation’ which requires you to devote one hour early morning and it can greatly help you to feel fresh. It must be done with empty stomach.
There are five stages which are :
The first step is ten minutes of chaotic breathing.
In the second step, for ten minutes you have to act out all your madnesses.
In the third step, we will be using the sound “Hoo!” as a mantra.
In the fourth step, you just ’stop’ in whatever posture you are in.
In the fifth step, Celebrate and rejoice with music and dance.
